With the aim of strengthening economic and trade relations between Spain and Japan and reinforcing the bonds of friendship between the two countries, the Leading Brands of Spain Forum and the High Commissioner for the Spain Brand awarded on 29 September a public recognition to the Friends of the Spain Brand and Spanish Brands in Japan, who are Japanese personalities that stand out for their support and links to Spain or its brands. The event, held in the Cervantes Institute of Tokyo within the framework of the ‘Spain-Japan Dual Year 2013-2014’, was presided by the Spanish Ambassador in Japan, Miguel Ángel Navarro, accompanied by the High Commissioner for the Spain Brand, Carlos Espinosa de los Monteros, and the Vice-Chairman of the Leading Brands of Spain Forum, Antonio Abril.

With a view to strengthening historical, and in particular economic and business ties, between Spain and Florida, a ceremony was held on board the Juan Sebastian de Elcano Training Ship on 3 May 2013 to recognisethe ‘Friends of the Spain Brand and Spanish Brands in Florida. This is an initiative of the Leading Brands of Spain Forum in collaboration with the Office of the High Commissioner for the Spain Brand that recognises local figures who have distinguished themselves for their connection with Spain or its companies. On 7 November 2011, The Prince and Princess of Asturias awarded, on behalf of the Leading Brands of Spain Forum and at a formal gala held in London, the recognition to the Friends of the Spain Brand in the UK. This ceremony is an initiative of the Leading Brands of Spain Forum that recognises those local figures who have distinguished themselves for their connection with Spain or its companies. The event took place as part of the gala dinner celebrating the 125th Anniversary of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in the UK, held at the Landmark Hotel in London, in the presence of 500 executives from leading Spanish and British companies.

Russia, which ranks amongst the ten most important economies in the world and is a member of the so-called BRICS, is a current and future market for Spanish companies. For this reason, and also with a view to strengthening the bonds of friendship between Spain and Russia, particularly from an economic and commercial standpoint, the Leading Brands of Spain Forum (FMRE) organised the Day of the Leading Brands of Spain in Russia on 28 March 2011, in the Manège Pavilion in Moscow. The conference was designed to draw attention to the business reality of Spain as an innovative, industrialised country, and publicly acknowledged the ‘Friends of the Spain Brand and of the Spanish Brands in Russia’, those individuals or institutions that have stood out for the support they have given Spain or Spanish companies operating in the Russian market.

Leading Spanish companies have spent years focusing on China as a strategic and priority market. Consequently, they have decided to publicly acknowledge Chinese individuals, companies and institutions that have been outstanding in their support for the arrival and expansion of Spanish companies and brands in the Chinese market. These are the “Friends of the Spain Brand in China” who were honoured on the initiative of the Leading Brands of Spain Forum during the celebration of the Leading Brands of Spain Day, an event publicising and promoting the business reality of Spain held in the Spanish Pavilion at the World Expo 2010 Shanghai on 1 September 2010.
