William Chislett, researcher at the Real Instituto Elcano and member of the Committee on Spain Ambassador Brands and Image, analyses the strength of the leading Spanish multinational companies in his latest report ‘Spain’s Main Multinationals: Building on their Success’. Chislett points out how direct foreign investment by the leading Spanish companies in the last fifteen years has enabled them to gain in size and international weighting, thus diluting their dependence on the Spanish market, which is allowing them to overcome the current economic crisis.
The report also underscores the significant market diversification being undertaken in recent years, contrasting with the excessive concentration in Latin America during the first stage of direct investments by Spanish companies. William Chislett analyses the reality of Spanish multinationals by grouping them according to activity sectors: Telecommunications, Energy, Banks, Electricity, Construction and Infrastructure, Other Multinationals and Family-Owned Multinationals.
