La Vanguardia published a two-page report last Sunday 12 April under the heading “Made in Spain. El país de Zara busca su hueco en el mundo” (Made in Spain. Zara’s country is seeking its place in the world). This report looks at the current contribution of the attribute Made in Spain to Spanish companies and services, and includes statements made by the Managing Director of FMRE, Miguel Otero, together with other experts concerning the Spain Brand. According to the article, “Fashion, tourism, and the threesome of ham, wine and oil, together with the attraction of global celebrities like Penelope Cruz, Ferran Adrià or Rafael Nadal, and the prestige enjoyed both as a city and with respect to sport by Barcelona and Madrid, are the chief weapons of Made in Spain, a brand that is still undergoing construction.” The report also includes a column referring to the Spanish brands in the United States, linking up with the recent presentation of the plan “Made in /by Spain in the United States”, held in mid-March in New York, in which the Leading Brands of Spain Association played a major role.
