Four members of the Leading Brands of Spain Forum – the Santander Group, Iberdrola, Simon and Mango- were distinguished this week in different categories of the Third ESADE Brand Centre Awards, which are organised by the ESADE Business School and the Expansión newspaper.
Of the winners, Grupo Santander is worth a special mention, as it received the Overall Award for its Long-term Track Record. The FMRE’s presence was not limited to receiving awards, as the FMRE managing director, Miguel Otero, also sat on the 25-member award jury.
When selecting the winner, the jury valued the fact that the financial institution has been capable of building a brand that embodies the identity and positioning of a global organisation, while maintaining a strong local presence. Furthermore, the jury pointed out that the Santander brand shares common values and was capable of anticipating changes in the banking environment throughout its history, which has been marked by the acquisition of entities like Banesto and Abbey National Bank, the merger with BCH and the stake in ABN Amro. This year, the Santander Group took over the baton from two other FMRE members, namely Telefónica and BBVA, who were the recipients of the award in previous years.
In addition, Iberdrola was the winner in the Corporate Brand category, Mango in the Internationalisation category and Simon in the B2B category.
Other companies that received awards were Atrápalo, Caja Navarra and La Española Alimentaria Alcoyana.
