The latest edition of the Euroretail study conducted by brand consultant, Interbrand, on retail brands features four Spanish brands among the top 25 in Europe. Zara, El Corte Inglés, Mango and Mercadona, in this order, are the most outstanding in the industry, with the Swedish fashion chain, H&M, topping the ranking. Eight British brands have also made the ranking.
With a brand value of 6,620 million euros, Zara comes in at number 5 and is the highest ranked Spanish brand, followed by El Corte Inglés at number 9, with 1,930 million; Mango at number 19, with 702 million, and Mercadona at number 22 with 398 million.
The ranking is headed by Swedish brand H&M, valued at 10,366 million euros, followed by Carrefour with a brand value of 6,620 million euros and, in third place, Ikea, with a value of 6,516 million euros.
Gonzalo Brujó, the CEO of Interbrand Iberia, believes that this is a positive result for Spanish companies who “are on a par with Europe’s greatest” and hopes that it will give them the confidence to conquer new markets.
