The best-selling sherry in the world
Tío Pepe is a very dry Fino sherry, made from the palomino grape variety.
It is a “fortified” wine with a pale golden colour and with a delicate and sharp aroma. Not acid, it is very dry and light on the palate. This is an original and unique wine.
The sherry is aged using a gradual aging process, which has allowed Tío Pepe to maintained the quality of their wines since 1835.
It is the leading brand of the González Byass group. It is seen to be one of the most renowned
and valued icons of Spain: its bottle with a widebrimmed hat, a red bolero jacket and a flamenco
guitar. It is the star of Spanish Finos.
It was awarded with gold medals in 1997, 1998 and 2002 at the International Wine & Spirit Competition, as well as at the International Wine Challenge in 1999 and 2001.
It was first exported in 1835,the year the company was founded. In 1856 Tío Pepe was the leading sherry exporter, with 2,590,000 bottles.
After 1860 the brand reached other parts of Europe, including Russia.
Today Tío Pepe is present in more than 117 countries. Its main export market continues to be England, followed by the Netherlands. Other significant markets are Germany, Russia, Scandinavia, the US and Japan. Recently, a distribution company has been set up in Mexico, González Byass Mexico, to sell Tío Pepe and all the Group’s other products.
