Founded in 1973,Beronia is a major bodega producing the highest quality Rioja wines. Its name comes from the history of the land on which it is located. The origin of the region we now know as La Rioja goes back to the 3rd century BC, when it was inhabited by the “Berones”, a population of Celt warriors. Their first villages, Tricio, Varea and Leiva, set the boundaries of Beronia, today’s La Rioja.
Faithful to its tradition, Beronia produces a classical range of elegant, well-balanced red wines: Crianza, Reserva and Gran Reserva. It also produces two whites: Viura and Viura Barrel Fermented. The vineyard has an innovative and modern vocation which can be seen in its single variety wines: Tempranillo de Elaboración Especial and Mazuela Reserva, making this bodega the only one in La Rioja to produce a Reserva wine of this variety. This range is completed with a high-expression, limited edition wine: Beronia III a.C.
Under the D.O.C. Rioja (the Spanish Superior Controlled Appellation),Beronia was acquired by the González Byass Group in 1982.Since then, it has continued to grow and gain a reputation on both national and international markets. Today, this cellar sells over 5 million bottles, exporting to over 50 different countries, running over 800 hectares of vineyard and with a store capable of holding 28,000 barrels, which have an average age of less than 4.5 years, which is of significant interest in La Rioja.
