The Leading Brands of Spain Forum (FMRE) is now working on its programme of activities for 2011. One of the main features of these activities will be the accreditation ceremony for the Spain Brand Honorary Ambassadors (EHME), the organisation of an event to promote Spanish brands in London, scheduled to coincide with the gala given by the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in the UK, which will be celebrating its 125th anniversary in 2011, and organisation of a similar event in Russia, within the framework of the Russian Year of Spain, which has been agreed upon at government level on both sides. Furthermore, there will be a number of other projects including the implementation of the programme for Brands with High International Potential (MAPI), the drawing up of an Atlas for Spanish Brands around the world, and the update of the Plan for Ambassadorial Brands and Image of Spain, focusing on the incentives to be won from internationalising Spanish brands. At the Spain Brand Honorary Ambassadors’ Accreditation Ceremony, Rafael Nadal (Sports), Antonio Garrigues (Business Administration), Santiago Calatrava (Science and Innovation), Inma Shara (Culture), the Vicente Ferrer Foundation (Social Commitment), Instituto Cervantes (Communication), and the Spanish National Football Team (Special Accreditation) will all be honoured. The ceremony, which will take place at the headquarters of one of the large FMRE companies will, in principle, be chaired by the Prince and Princess of Asturias. In relation to the event to be held in London in collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce of Spain in the United Kingdom, and coinciding with the 125th anniversary of such institution, a congress will be organised in this city to promote Spanish brands and the image of Spain on the British market.  The Prince and the Princess of Asturias are expected to attend, along with other Spanish and British authorities.  In fact, the exact timing of this event awaits the instructions to be issued by the Royal Household in this respect. During the ceremony the Friends of the Spain Brand in the United Kingdom will be publicly acknowledged, being selected by a panel constituted for such purposes by members of the British public, companies and institutions that are known to have strong links with Spain and its brands. We will try to have the participation of a Spain Brand Honorary Ambassador, as was the case in a similar event which was organised in Shanghai in 2010 with the presence and support of Pau Gasol. In addition, within the framework of the celebration of the Russian Year of Spain by mutual agreement of the Spanish and Russian Governments, a congress will be organised to promote the image of Spain and its brands on the Russian market. The ceremony will be organised in collaboration with the Spanish Institute for Foreign Trade (ICEX) and the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation (MAEyC), with the endorsement of Spanish brands present in Russia. During the congress, the Friends of the Spain Brand in Russia will be publicly acknowledged. The Spain Brand Honorary Ambassadors will be invited to take part.
