AMRE played an active role in the “Today is Marketing” seminar, held at the IFEMA Exhibition Centre in Madrid on 28 April. Speaking at the event, which was organised by our partner ESIC, was the Vice-Chairman of the Forum and the CEO-General Councel of Inditex, Antonio Abril, along with a large number of representatives from brands belonging to AMRE. AMRE’s participation focused mainly on the round table entitled “La marca país y la internacionalización de las marcas españolas. Más que nunca la unión hace la fuerza” (The nation brand and the internationalisation of Spanish brands. More than ever, unity means strength), which was moderated by ESIC's Marketing Research Department, José María Cubillo, with the participation of Antonio Abril along with representatives from public institutions – such as the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Commerce and ICEX – and the brands. Antonio Abril made a passionate defence of the need to have strong brands to be able to compete on a global scale and insisted in his address on the need to “go international with a brand or die”. He also went over the aims and activities of the Leading Brands of Spain Forum. Also participating in the round table – on behalf of the brands belonging to AMRE –were Real Madrid’s Vice-Chairman and Finance Director, José Ignacio del Rivero, BBVA’s Head of Corporate Reputation, Image and Social Action, Angel Alloza, and the Deputy Manager of Brand Image and Strategy at Repsol, María Alvarez del Manazano. The seminar on “Today is Marketing” in Madrid – which was attended by almost 2,000 people – is the first of seven that ESIC is organising over the coming weeks in various Spanish cities. AMRE will collaborate with the organisation in several of these events, and its Managing Director, Miguel Otero, will even speak at the conferences in Zaragoza and Seville.
